Amazing day in S. Ontario. Got up to 50f today! I uncovered a few of my plants to see how they are doing. The 14day trend here looks great. Temps not going below freezing. Spring is in the air!
Magnolia.. Some burnt leaves. What do you think??
Very surprised!! Sable Palmetto. Only protected by leaf wrap. Saw out lowest low of -22.9c. Just barely zone 6a.
Shoshone Idaho weather

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Magnolia looks really good! Good first year to have it planted out!
The palmetto might be a little mushy. Get some fungicide in there right away. There are no cold temps forecast for the next little while so you might want to just uncover it to let it breathe...

Barb.. The palm hut is great! Had the door open the last two days. Palms are loving the warm sun, I think. I'll keep doing this till mid April before removing. I peeled back some of the plastic on the front too.
Thanks Paul. I actually used Bordo on the sable today when I opened it up. I'll take your advice and keep it open for a bit. Probably this weekend. Take a look at these Barb. All my garden pics..
I've been pulling back and lifting up the plastic south wall of my palm hut each morning and putting it down each evening lately, too. I haven't bothered covering up the dog hole for weeks now.
The wireless thermometer nestled in the burlap on the trunk recorded a low of 38oF last night and a whopping 91oF today. Must have received direct sunlight for a while to reach that.
Great pics Scotty, thanks.
Forgot that you used OSB too. My door has been open so long it won't close properly.
Guess I (we) should have painted BOTH sides?
Stoooopid OSB...glued sawdust!
I should'a used exterior gr plywood (but $$$$$).
Erik,
Wow that's summer inside that hut!
Thank goodness you didn't fix the dog hole, or it'd be 110 F.
That palm will soon be very thirsty.
Looking very good Scott! Your BBB looks better then my DD Blanchard which was wrapped with a frost cloth. Surprisingly my lil Gems
had very little damage with no protection all winter, I thought they where less hardy go figure. Next year will be better for the Blanchard.
Aren't sabals cool! I uncover one yesterday and it looked better then when I put it away.
Have fun in Fla, my cousin says the weather is freakishly cold. I hope it warms up for you.
Call Anytime! Glad to see your not going for a week, weather warms up! Patterns will change don't be paranoid, it should be
70f everyday there by know, even South Fla. is cold now. You picked a perfect week
