How many out there use google earth (street view) to look for palms and other cool plants in different areas?

Very cool tool if you have ever wondered what palms a certian area will have.

Only looked at GE a couple of times when daughter was visiting Costa Rica.
"Flew in" to see the topography of the area, shadows on Zoom showed what were palms versus scrub bushes.

Good idea from Erik.

What area/city are you viewing?

I have never tried to save a view from GE, but I can see what I can do.

I seen alot of cool things from the Oregon coast, I love to use GE to look for places that a person would not normaly look for palms.

If you have Francko's "Palms won't grow here" book you may have seen the Washies in Plate 20.
Here is the winter protection they used to get:
