Today's forecast is sunny and 70. The next week features sunshine and 50s/60s for highs and 30s/40s for lows. My trachycarpus fortunei is still uncovered, as it has only been as cold as 25 so far this fall. Robustas are uncovered again, and I brought my potted palms/bananas up from the plant room to let them air out. Here are some pictures from a few minutes ago!

I hear ya Wxman! I have my doors off my palm hut pretty much all the time. We are seeing warm temps as well! I think you and I jumped the gun a bit this year! Oh well though, better to be safe than sorry!

I would like to see a picture of your protection method on your washy. I have a couple but I bring them inside in the winter. Too scared of loosing them but I would like to plant them and protect them some how.

We were in the 70s last year at this time too.
Trachys and other palms as well as my Agaves are still growing.
When I got home at noon today the temp in my Washy rain cover was 104F,needless to say I opened the flaps.
Looks like El Nino is in control now.Sure would be nice to have a mild winter after the last 2!

Nice to see you guys are getting some warm weather, it's on the way here! Mid to upper 60's tomorrow and Monday and low 70's Tuesday. My washies should enjoy it, there still out and doing fine, I'm shooting for my birthday in about two weeks to protect them. Plus I need oak leaves there still on the trees. Your palms and bananas look nice and happy wx, I'm sure they enjoyed being out.

Across the 'pond', it's mighty cold now, pretty much everything has stopped growing and 0C (32F), is a possibility tonight with only a daytime high of 8-9C. The El Nino usually gives us milder weather too, but at the moment it's giving us temperatures more associated with winter!

Hi Barb, I've got these picture, they're not brand new, but I took them early November and the second one is from the summer as my shaded bed looks best at the moment (for colour)





The flowers on the second picture aren't flowering now, except the Gazanias and the Begonias

They don't recieve any protection Barb, I have two palm in that picture, the Phoenix canariensis, and The Trachy F (the large palm 7 years old), The Phoenix will probably be a bit sick next Spring as it gets no sun at all in the winter but we'll see. The Yucca is hardy enough here but I'd rather let it get frost than protect it because it may cause rot.

I never protect anymore because I've killed 2 palms with kindness through over wrapping, so I think it's best for them to take the cold in our climate as they can most likely handle it (they have proved so anyway)

I have a carpet of Lampranthus which keeps the base of the Yucca protected anyway
