I AM GETTING SEEDS

Post by Kansas » Mon Mar 06, 2006 3:56 pm

I know, I am busy on the boards today....
Just got a call from my friends down in Lake City, Florida (just outside of Jacksonville) and they said they went out and found a bunch of seeds.
He said they were left on the ground from last year. Think they should still be ok? He doesn't know what they are but said they looked like cherry seeds. Maybe Washy????

Kansas-

I do know that Sabal and Washingtonia seeds sometimes have a brownish-red color. If you'd like Washingtonia or Sabal seeds, they are about the least expensive to buy from reputable dealers, and that way you'll know what your getting.

I got the seeds. He sent two kinds.
One was a seed that lookes ALOT like popcorn kernals, but with a teeny tiny red dot on the top and also on a lot of them, they split in two (probably ruined) while taking the outer hard shell off when cleaning.
The other looked like a Butia seed but a lot thinner. They kinda stunk after being soaked a while too. I can't decide if they are a Butia or a Date. They do not have a slit in the middle like my other Phoenix do.
