When should I expect to see flowering from my Trachycarpus?

Post by Windmill Palm guy »

When should my windmill palm start to flower? It has close to 3 foot of trunk and a crown close to 2 foot.

It's in a very large pot and gets plenty of water and palm fertilizer.

Oh one other question. I noticed that the tips down to about a finger nail is black, would this be caused from to much watering?

Thanks guys!

I can't tell you exactly but I can tell you these two flowered male seeds this year. I know they have been in these pots atleast 4 years and they where not that much smaller then. I'm not sure how long they have been in these pots but when I bought my first one there I reamember thinking how nice it would be to have one as big as them. That was three years ago and mine has blown those two away with both size and fronds. Clearly being in a pot it takes much longer. As for the black tips I have never seen that. The first two pictures are the same palm, the last one is mine in Middle March this year when it seeded the first time. A male.
