My large Taitiungensis was starting to flush as I left to Fayetteville Arkansas to supervise the Ice Storm restore for work.
I put it in my new daughters room since she is not in it yet (doctors say new borns are to sleep in parents room for first 3 months now). When I got home, this is what I have now. Leafs that are literally 5 foot long. As a bonus in the pics, look at the work I did in rebuilding my daughters room
This is what happens to Taits in shade

The room looks nice!
How long do the fronds grow when it's outside?

This is the Tait that was from outside last Summer. The bad thing is, it's an 11 leaf flush and I am about 90% sure that the leafs are too heavy to stand up to the Kansas winds in April & May and the storms. I surely will need to cut them off. Luckily a Tait will put out a new flush every 21 days, after the old flush is cut.

Cycas Taitungensis
I don't know what you're excited about Wes. A Taitungensis that size will normally put out a 11 ft. to 16 ft. spread. I got one at Disney World (adjacent to Space Mountain) with a 16 Ft spread with a smaller trunk than yours. However, your leaves may not be as healthy sinse it's indoors, but look pretty good so far. Robert Chumley
I live on 12 acres in Central Florida about half way between Tampa and Walt Disney World.I have seed colonies of over 60 varieties of cycads. I have over one half acre of variegated cycads and I make many hybrids as well.
Really? All my flushes that come out while outside are about half the length as this one. It's almost like they are stretching to get light. But yea, the leaves I think are too heavy and will break when the winds hit them
I am still after that cycad from the Gainesville guy, just need to remember to get the money out to you.

Hey Wes nice job on the nursery!
Stunning leaf length on that Tait.
I'd better not get any more cycads...I wouldn't have room for THAT one!
What a beauty.
