BUTIAcapitata
This Butia has rooted in nicely after a transplant almost 3 years ago. So far 9 new fronds this season with a full head of steam going into Fall. It's in a southern exposure and seems to like the summer heat and regular watering. How's your Butia doing? Cheers, Barrie.

That's very nice Barrie!
I have some Butia capitata seeds coming from South Carolina and i can't wait to receive them.
What kind of cactus is that beside the Opuntia?
Regards,
Jay

Jay,
The one one the left is Opuntia vulgaris. All together there is about 8 different types of cacti. Also in the dry garden are several Agave species. Almost anything worthy of a hot, sunny and dry site gets planted here.
*as a side note: I had Opuntia liguiformis in there but it collapsed from weight at about 6' tall. I cut it out and tossed it onto a mound of soil out back. Now this has rooted in since last year and is growing fine.
Cheers, Barrie.

Beautiful Butia capitata!!!...I love Pindo Palms. I know for sure they love the heat, being from Brazil. Its surprisingly cold hardy though, considering its pinnate. Jelly Palms are popular in the southern United States.

Hi Barrie
I know this is an old thread, but if you are still reading this forum could you post a few more pics of your yard? Looks like you have some very cool plants

I would love to see more

I have been to Barrie's about two or three years ago and it was impressive then. I also would like to see some pics.
He had a home grown tropical plant business call Las Palmas Norte.
I wonder if he has a website?
I also heard he frequents the UK Oasis board.
