I'm just going to use regular water Barb. I wouldn't put any peelings in there, it might attract creatures. Unless your trying to draw them in for the kill! I would recommend stapling the plastic up in December when the weather starts getting cold all the time. Then removing it in Feb when the sun starts warming up to control your temp swings. Actually let me rephrase that, staple the plastic to the top now, and add a second layer halfway up when it gets really cold out.

Other than "tunneling" rodents, a cat or coyote couldn't get through.
