This palm is REALLY amazing in person. It takes a person with real love for palms to do what Steve has done there. His work is TERRIFIC!

Thanks for the comments! This one has received the least care, and is doing the best out of three.
Was contemplating moving it, decided to build around it instead.

Sorry to hear about your washys...that sucks. Did you leave them out?

very impressive Steve. You should just dig the Wash Robusta out of the ground and move south. At the rate that WR is growing it will quickly outgrow any structure you build around it. I can hardly wait to see what you have to do in Oct 2009 to cover that palm. Keep up the great work.

How are things in your part of the world? As for the W.robusta, I'm framing an opening above it that will allow further expansion. Eventually, it will be growing up and through the roof. ( I'll figure out something else then

I was lucky this year and found some Osmocote on sale during the winter, it got a dose of that in March.
The soil is pretty good where it is, river sediment from past flooding, and right at the edge of a row of cedars.

Knnn ... geez, your W. robusta looks great ! It beats the hell out of mine in a much milder winter climate (zone 8b). Mine's shown some growth but not anything as reported by yourself or others in previous threads. Even this season it's barely under way but it's healthy as a horse. Others from England are showing big results from theirs too. I guess I'm happy enough that it's alive and well.

That one is just a fast grower, ( not sure if that is a good thing or not
This one was planted out at the same time, gets a little building over it for the winter.
