Hey, Got some more pics this weekend... The cacti continue their procession of blooms, E. vivipara is next followed by the Opuntia and Cylindropuntia!
From this weekend:
Escobaria missouriensis v. caespitosa

and finally, a pic of the new 3 gallon Yucca rostrata... It was actually quite root bound when planted... And sorry, but I didn't have time to redo the rock around the plant!

Hey ... well done Paul. I assume all are hardy for your region? They are healthy and will become more of a visual treat with each passing year. I'll have a look around my cacti/succulent garden in the near future and see what is happening there.

Cheers, Barrie.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Barrie, Yes they are all hardy (well, the rostrata is new, and it may not be hardy...)
Opuntia blooms should begin in the next week or so! I'll post more pics then! Oh, and some shots of the newly planted Sabal minors... I have a minor McCurtain and a regular minor in the same microclimate, to see how they do comparatively over the winter!

Paul that looks great. After seeing your cactus and succulent garden and others on this board I really should start my own. Thanks for sharing your pics.

John,
You've got the right climate to grow an amazing diversity of desert plants! I'm growing these plants in a wet/humid area that's a bit colder then you (a bit = 1-2 zones!). I can only imagine the extent of the xeric plants that you'd be able to grow... yuccas, agaves, cacti... Do you have room and the proper microclimate?

Cheers,
Paul

Paul I have plenty of room, time is the issue. I`ve been landscaping a couple portions of my property and concentrating on planting palms and bananas. Jay our founder has a some cactus pads for me so I guess I`ll be planting cactus plants soon. I have some larger Y.rostrata smaller Joshua trees to plant as well. Your right our climate is well suited for desert plants as we recieve only 12" of rain per year.

I've always loved the cacti. Simple yet flamboyant when in bloom. I'm hoping my Opuntia imbricata blooms this year, Opuntia vulgaris has huge blooms 4" to 5" across.
Again, well done Paul.

Cheers, Barrie.

What time of year do cacti bloom around here?
None of mine have bloomed yet but I have lots of new growth.
