Post by Knnn » Sat Apr 19, 2008 6:32 pm

Not sure what is up with this Dioon seedling, any ideas :?:

Seems healthy, just fronds popping out everywhere.

It just might be! The caudex seems healthy, no rot or bad areas.
This has also lifted itself up about 1" so far, ( kept re-potting it back down at first, decided to let it go and see what happens :D

Steve,
that is stunningly beautiful. Is it pups?

It'll be cool to see this develop, please take regular pics.

How old is this Dioon?

Thanks Barb,

Think this one is about a year, or maybe 1 1/2 year from seed.
( I am trying to label things better now :D

It appears to be pups, will be interesting to see how this one develops.

Suckering early is not all that uncommon, particularly in some of the dioons. I had a D. angustifolium seedling that began suckering when the caudex was less than 1/2" in diameter. I'll try to find the photo.

You are going to have quite an interesting (and full!) plant as it matures.

...the only thing good about storms is the new containers that arrive from down the road :D

I don't have a fat albert, but this Dioon edule is showing some movement.
Wish it had the clumping gene.
