Today before work I checked all my seed trays and there were 3 sprouted Veitchia Merrillii, or Christmas Palms. These seeds were put in the dirt on 11/28/07 These sprouts are my first ever palms grown from seed. Hopefully they just start popping up everyday now. Oh what a feeling. here is a link to the pics. My first palm sprouts
I read your great blog a few weeks ago when it came up on a palm search.
Nice work with your seeds.
Great 30" palm pots you bought.
Congrats on how you're going about it...taking notes, trying different things, building holders.
One question:
Did the snake kill the alligator? (couldn't see the pic very well).

Thanks for the welcome. I hope you all have enjoyed the blog. I have gotten some feedback and responses have been good. So that keeps the updates often. I have had this palm bug for only a few months now. So just getting started and having so much fun doing it.
Alright a little background on snake vs gator. They have talked about the problems with people in miami and south FL releasing exotic pet snakes into the FL everglades. A chopper was flying over and found this dead snake. The snake had eatin the gator but the gator had the last word because the snakes stomach just couldn't take the size of the gator and it burst out of the side of the snake. I fish down there on a regular basis and this makes you think about what really is under that murky water!
