Trithrinax campestris

Post by Cali-wanna-b » Mon Jan 28, 2008 6:04 pm

I recently bought some Trithrinax campestris seeds and would like any tips regarding their germination. I have read they can be stubborn little buggers.

Thanks,
Craig

Craig,
Best of luck with them! Think I read somewhere that fluctuating day/night germination temps. gave the best results.

My recollection of these is that they do germinate slowly and at a low percentage rate. That is likely based on freshness of the seed. Viability of the seed deteriorates with age, so the freshest seeds produce the best results. Most times one never knows for sure what they're buying or if the claims made are bolstered buy the sellers.

Cheers, Barrie.

Barb, I have them on my heat pad already. Just checked them today. 4 are already rotted. The rest are looking ok. I am hoping they are silver dates, we shall see.
