I have noticed palms or cordylines reach overhead obstructions with nowhere to go. But this palm has adapted years in advance. This home faces the afternoon sun. Enjoy

We've all--at one time or another--planted something too close to the house.
The palm's owner likely thought it would fill in an empty area of the flower bed
Stunning specimen.
While this pic doesn't include powerlines, I've seen pictures of palms with considerable damage as they
grow within the "field" of electric lines.

Nice looking palm.
Perhaps the original homeowner planted it with the trunk angled away from the house so that it would not interfere with the lawn or the eaves.
Stranger things have happened.
