Idaho palmtree (trachy)

Post by DesertZone » Tue Nov 08, 2005 5:32 am

Here is a trachy that is growing in Nampa Idaho. I have heard about this palm before, and looks like it has made it through the winter alright. The pic was from this year, and I know this palm was there the year before. :D Thanks to desertdavey for the pic :D

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I think I have seen these trachy`s before in Idaho near Boise. Are they protected in the winter with warming cables? If not they certainly are one of the most cold hardy zone 6 Trachy`s. How many years have they been there how big were they when they were planted? :?:
Thanks
John

No...it is atleast a zone warmer (z6b).

When I first read about these palms- there was 2 big ones at the entrance? If so then maybe one died? The person that took the pic. said he would keep me informed on the condition as it goes through winter. :D So I hope to keep us posted.
I have heard that there is some big palms in Boise Idaho, but I have not seen a pic of them yet. Boise is maybe just alittle warmer than Nampa.

I've seen that pic. before when someone posted it on another forum. That was approx. 1 year ago or so. Nice to see it's still hanging in there. Joe
