Spindle or Triangle?

Post by lucky1 » Tue Oct 16, 2007 5:40 pm

Got a ride to RONA Kelowna today.

Their greenhouse was absolutely chock-full of palms. I was drooling.
Prices were fabulous, lowest I've seen in years. Very very nice clean healthy specimens.
They had palms 8 to 10 feet tall. Majesties were $50.00.
Fishtails etc etc were about the same price, very tall, highest price I saw was $54.99.

Sooooo....here's my newest baby, for only $19.99. About 3 feet tall in its pot.
Shelf label said Spindle Palm.
Tag says "Palms-Great Foliage Accent" (duh!)

Kinda looks like a Triangle base to me, but it's not mottled dark specks, it's pinkish.

Thanks Dean I thought so too.
I could've brought home a truckload, ha ha.

Still no sign of seeds, but keeping my hopes up.
Already looking for an alternative to the ole' aquarium we either threw away or sold at a garage sale.

Barb - that's a heck of a buy for $19.99. I agree, it appears to be a Spindle. If you keep it inside watch out for scale.

Yea Barb I think it is a Spindle. An easy way to tell a Triangle is the black freckles it has on the trunk.
