Most of us live a long way from tropical breezes. However, that does not mean we can't try to grow the prize of the tropical beach - the cocos nucifera. Here's a picture of my coco. Show us yours.

oppalm, I like the petiole coloring on yours, I actually found one at my local Lowes last month ( try to ignore the planter it's in :)

nice find steve. I thought mine would have grown taller this year. It did put out 4 new fronds, but not alot of height. The petitole is kind of a muted yellow, not sure what I got, not sure if I care what got, I am just going to try to nurse it along as long as I can. Your coco has nice green color and looks to be in very good shape considering it came from Lowes. At this time of year, everything starts to show some wear (if you know what I mean). Keep up the good work.

It got tap water on the one frond so it is brown  but the rest is healthy. But for how long?????? It is in a small pot that I put into a bigger pot so the water stays in the bottom and feeds the roots longer. Seems to be working as I water it until the water starts leaking out the second pot (3" water standing in the second pot) then it is gone in 24 hours.

Kent, Maybe a Golden Malayan Dwarf ? It sure is nice whichever it is 8)

Wes, (Kansas), Beware of standing water :) As long as it is above 85* you can water it every day!

Here is the other one I have in the GH, still recovering from the "When good pets go bad" episode.
( Has made it through two Winters inside the house so far......
