Here is a trachy on Salt Spring Island, BC that was removed and hauled away to be tranplanted.

It produces thousands of seeds every year. I have hundreds of small seedlings. My Largest male is just out of the picture to the right. It is about 2/3 the size of my female. I have another trachy that should flower next year. It will be interesting to see if it is male or female. I am guessing male because of the narrower trunk.
I wonder if a trachycarpus takil would survive in your climate. If you stay dry during the winter and put it out of the wind it might do alright. I am planting a small takil next spring. It is about a 2 gallon size right now.
