No other cities wouldn't beat Astana, a capital of Kazakhstan (and a town I was born many years ago...). there is a cold's polar of Kazakhstan in this "city" - minus 52! Any questions? Don't mess with Moscow, Helsinki or Ulanbator! Since I was born there I hate this place - it's so windy, cold and expensive for living! And palms won't grow there for sure!Cowtown Palm Society wrote:Canadian, you're right...that's hilarious. I was trying to think of that city too. It's Ulaanbaatar. Neat looking place, maybe I'll go someday. For sure too on those other desolate places listed. I think Helsinki, Finland is up there too-probably more moderate though ie. colder summers, slightly warmer winters.
Agreed on the soil here. By the time the freeze up comes around, there's usually zero moisture left in the soil. I'll get some pics up of the winter wonderland in the next couple of days.
Stay warm in T-Bay brother.

Before wind-chill of course. Normally (I mean the such temperature is not normal) it's happened under the high atmosphere pressure conditions. And it's calm but terribly cold!canadianplant wrote:wow LOL well i know that Ullaanbaatar ( close enough0 regularly goes below -40C... ive seen calgary go below -40C ( i walked in it).
