too bad about your Washy's Barb.............do you really think they are dead or will they regrow?
PS.....your Y. rostratas look GREAT! I'd keep the rostratas uncovered from now on................................ I'll probably take my protection off after this next batch of snow since I'm afraid the sun is getting too strong.

Time will tell about the Washies, but at least I'm hopeful now.
Yes, the rostratas are on their own now...minimum temps f/casted aren't much below freezing, and above freezing every day.
Did yours sail through that heavy wet snow with no adverse effects?

Hi Barb,
both of my Y. rostratas were protected against snow.......no supplemental heating but I did keep the snow off them.
I don't think our temperatures will kill a Y. rostrata in our area.........perhaps a 1 in 15 year winter? Our moisture with the cold is another story.

moisture is our enemy in winter!!!!!!

if we didn't get any winter moisture we could grow many Agaves here.........how cool would that be?

I have decided to make a winter hut somthing like jim hardys this summer and try a desert garden here in 6B and see how it goes. with the right species and a semi greenhouse cover it shouldn't be a problem for rostrata and a few agave and cacti

It'll be great to watch you develop that.
Sourcing all the stuff you want will be fun.
