I was fortunate to gather these palm leaf fossils from the Duke Point Hwy excavation site about 8 years ago. An overpass was put in and while construction was underway, a large fossilized palm leaf was unearthed. Here's a link to the story http://gsc.nrcan.gc.ca/paleochron/36_e.php and a couple of pics of the palm leaf fossil segments I have.
Cheers, Barrie.

Barrie, each time I look at your palm fossil pics I feel a surge of excitement
and hope to find something...one day.
Found this link to a palm fossil from Wyoming:

And this cycad fossil from England:

And this "largest palm fossil leaf" from Duke Point:

Man oh man, if I ever found a palm (or any) fossil, you'd HEAR a very loud YIPPPPPEEEEEE!
Wonderful stuff!

80 million years old!
The article states--despite the name--they likely aren't related to a Phoenix date palm.
What a rich site at Duke Point, Barrie, so many plant/flower fossils were discovered that the site was known for its "dinosaur salad".
I can only imagine how many went into the rock crusher
