Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

You would need a greenhouse with a chiller!

Adam .... that's one heck of a growth I just do not have the space or water supply for that Gunnera. I do however have another species ...Gunnera Perpensa Its leaves are much smaller and kidney shaped. It also originates from Africa and has survived three cold Winters

thanks Aaron, Jim and Andy!
It was planted in a deep hole in clay (that I fired with a plumbing torch to treat as if a pot in a kiln) then filled with 85% peat, 15% garden triple mix. All in an effort to HOLD water as long as possible without any standing surface water. Located at the lowest part of the yard down hill from the rain barrel, from which it gets watered daily.
Can't wait to see how big it will get.
Andy, that is a cute little gunnera you have there.

Just for Fun (it's Friday night): my little Gunnera and a Little Doggy. The Gunnera survived three winters in a row, the Doggy is three month old. The whiskey is drinking is the Bourbon Evan Williams...

I planted G. tinctoria this Spring. Here it is:
They're growing like crazy, even though we had some drought, but the more you water them during warm days, the better!
