Getting Ready for Winter

Post by lucky1 » Tue Nov 04, 2014 8:42 am

Sorry I've been AWOL so long.
Really busy summer.
Hope everyone's well.

Had to relearn photo embedding:

2 Washy filiferas with 6ml vapor barrier skin over steel fence posts. Old Solar pool blanket wrap next.
The yucca rostrata sure grew this year.

The little Brahea armata and Chamaerops humilis cerifera and the "unknown" yucca get the same treatment:

B.armata:

The yucca almost died last winter with only a plastic garbage can over it; here's what shot up from the roots this summer:

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/southslope/15684314195" title="010 by edible_plum, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7520/156 ... 011df1.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="010"></a>

Ended up cutting off 4 or 5 fronds to get the Washies to fit inside the teepee frame:

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/southslope/15498476839" title="008 by edible_plum, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3942/154 ... 67642b.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="008"></a>

Didn't get the palm hut installed over this guy.
Probably because we know it won't fit this year

This is probably crazy, but we'll install the palm hut nevertheless.
It's all I've got for this year.
Because of its sloping roof, I'm hoping to GENTLY bungee cord the vertical spears and fronds on an angle to the highest part of the ceiling.

Andy, the photo doesn't do the Sapphire Skies justice. Lousy camera.

Yup, the million photos are g'son...
