Palmy Portland

Post by TerdalFarm » Fri May 16, 2014 10:57 pm

I grew up in Portland, Oregon, a palmy city despite being at 46 oN latitude.

This cell phone snapshot from today is of a McDonalds drive-through:

So nice to see people get the hang of planted palms at this--and higher--latitudes.

Trachies look good despite the worse than usual winter.
Nice pic.

Tarchycarpus are all over the place.
Not a terrible winter here; low for winter was +12 oF, with a few days below freezing, back in early December. No big deal for a windmill palm and they are flowering all over the city.

I'd give my eye teeth for that type of winter.

Trachies would be gorgeous in Vancouver too at this time of year.
They're planted all over the beach at English Bay.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.
