I can come close, Kingston hit -29C last night. That means that my garden must have hit at or below -30C, which will be the coldest in 12 years. Yikes. That's -22F, a zone 4b temperature. And here I was getting ready to finally admit to zone 5a status:(
Toronto hit a hot and humid -20C last night. It's downright tropical. -4F, zone 6b.
Yep -19C here this morning....BRRRR I figure anything below -15C is a crap shoot anyways.
Inside the Palmetto box was -9.2C at 7am, by noon is was reading -2.5C.
Maybe by spring, I'll convert my Agave into a Tequila, I may enjoy it better then it looks now...
Sigh. I was hoping the worst was behind me. but I got down to -26C last night (again) There's been 24 15 minute intervals of -26 since I started logging my very localized weather a month ago. I was supposed to start getting above 0 by next Tuesday but it's been pushed out until at least next Friday. I haven't been inside the palm huts for nearly a month hopefully they don't hate me too much...

New years eve was -55C with the wind. The last week of december/beginning of january were brutal. Coldest december in 20 years. Oddly enough nothing really record breaking. A much more " average" winter for up here. Everything is getting a good test. Best part is there is about 5 feet of snow. My yard is about 5C warmer or more then what the airport reads.
Not a contest im happy winning

The entire second half of 2013 has been 'below seasonal' in the East. Every forecast or report since August, has indicated that it's been below seasonal averages. Besides since Early 2013, the winter was clinging on with a cold, damp and flooding Spring. Since then it was all down hill with floods throughout the world (including our friends in the UK this year).
Let's hope that it's out of the system and we skip over Spring this year and go right to Summer
Any El Nino sightings??
canadianplant wrote:Finally warming back up to seasonal here this week.... might see some snow melt.... then again theres almost 5 feet of it...
Not to worry, the snow melts real fast in our Zone. It was melting at -8C (17f), the air mass is cold still yes, but with the sun's angle, its rays are much much warmer nowadays... The end is near

Brrrr...I don't think I could have ever made it in Canada. Beautiful but too cold.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Looks like we are heading to the lowest winter temp by the end of February... It's so boring! This month is colder than typically at 10 degree Celsius. Crap!
considering what happen last year with my washy, I will open that box probably at the beginning of May (Trachys can come out at the beginning of April). 6 Months in a cage, that's not fun.
Man oh man, you folks in the eastern half of the continent have gotten nailed this winter.
But there'll at least not be water restrictions
I was down in Wenatchee Washington for 3 days last week.
56 F, people walking around in T shirts.
Car window down Thurs and Friday.
It was bloody wonderful!
Hated to come home...especially seeing our gas prices compared to theirs!
$2.19 gallon U.S.
about 288 per cent less than gas prices in B.C.
Thats because most of our gas gets shipped to the states to be refined then sold back to us through tariffs/taxes..... The only real refineries in canada are one or two in S ontario and one or two on the east coast. Dont even think we have any legitamate "reserves"....

If nothing changes it's gonna be one of the shortest winters here ever
The real Winter lasted like 2.5 weeks! It's unbelievable...
It's time to pay my plants a visit

It has been very wet and very cold....gas is also cheap in nj, about 2.19 usd a gallon right now. We're supposed to get to 60 by friday...yay!!!!!!
hardyjim wrote:I think he made the same mistake you did-lowest I could find there was $3.08
I'm in South Jersey, way cheaper than North, that's basically New York Prices. We are even 50 cents cheaper than right over the bridge in PA. We do not have the same fuel tax as they do. Also state law says you are not permitted to pump your on gas....funny
