I just got home from Mexico A few days ago its was very sunny and warm I was about 20.5 degree N of the equator. The hotel has been going a bit palm crazy as well the last couple years which suits me just fine. Hope you enjoy the pics.
These look like Trachy's but the fan does a full 360 there is no thorns but the trunk is identical to my trachy. Any ideas?
Greetings from Oakville.
I think the plant that you asked about is a Pandanus sp. Not a real palm but can look like one. It may grow many trunks. Its fruit is used as 'kewra' water in the Indian cooking, it is quite fragrant.
It is a great house plant.
Take care,
Rob
Mayan Riviera 15m south of Playa Del Carmen. My favourite place on earth. When I decide to pull the trigger on a place there I can have all the palms I want and not worry insulating them. Xmas lights will become just for decoration not a key for survival.
Love that area, too. For my trips to Belize, I catch a cheap flight to Cancun and take the bus to Belize. I spend a night in the Maya Riviera area on the way down or back.
As for Christmas, grow "christmas palms" there. Bright red berries for Yule.
