pays to have over head protection...half the Castor,Bananas dead other half still going!

Big boys(tallest Castor bean plants) on the west side that were more exposed are goners...

My Musa Basjoo had snow on it a couple days this week but still looks pretty good the lows most of this week have been down at about 0 or 1 degree. I've spent most nights this week building boxes I just completed my last box last night my yard looks like a grave yard with the tropical tombs littering it. Just waiting for my thermo cubes. But I have to face facts winter is here. I'll probably put the bananas to bed later this week.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, microclimate effects are quite apparent.

Hey Erik!

teebee

Can you post a weather sticker?

Interested in seeing your temps,etc.

My yards evolution is in waves in regard to going into winter...

The T.ferns will always be first along with a rain cover for the cactus
and then the smaller palms first with the biggest palms getting covered last...
the Washy is the exception, some years a burn off of the leaves may be needed
and some they get covered, the weather(that fall) and size of the palm will determine that I suppose.
