I just got back from "Arnold's Greenhouse".
WOW, have they gone downhill. I for one will not be going back. They had about 10 employees all walking around doing NOTHING and not one asked if they could help me. I was looking for a Rostata and it took me 15 minutes to find them. When I did find them, they looked HORRIBLE!!!! Of the 30 leaves on it, only about 5 were alive.
Also, there prices have SKY ROCKETED. Why? maybe cause they need to pay those employees to walk around and do nothing, and they transfer that onto the customer.
Sorry, but I won't be going there again.

(Kansas) Wes- Customer service should be the the top priority for any business, this is a good example of what happens when it is overlooked

It sounds like they may order their stock in each year as opposed to growing it on site?

BTW - How did the Yucca seeds work out? I tried both germination methods with sucess.

Nothing yet, but I do expect them soon then as I usually get results a couple weeks after you. I don't know your secret, but you are the king.
Don't know if you got that PM about the Verbanum tree seedling I got for you, but also, I am going to hunt rattlesnakes next week on the Red River by Wichita Falls, Texas. I hope to see some yuccas. If so, I'll get some seeds or something for you.

You will find things will grow a lot quicker in the GH, I have my venting set up for a target temp. between 90 & 100F .
Of course this is during the Summer  Works good for the Cycads and most Palms don't seem to mind.

Let me know when you have some space available in your GH, Have a few things to send your way.

Please help me then, I have evrything in the greenhouse with a heater going. I don't know what the temps are, but I do know everything looks green, but is not showing signs of growth. I have not watered and I do check a lot and when it is COLD outside, it is "warm" in there, not hot & not cold. Probably around 50-52 if I had to guess. Is this fine and is this why I am not seeing any growth?
Well, I DO see growth on one thing, my Guiz / Tait Hybrid seeds that had rootted from Chumley, three have put out there EXTREMELY cute first flush.
I can come up to your house and deliver some things to you if you want to trade. Just give me a date. I'll be gone from the 12th thru the 16th thou.

Get a couple of cheap thermometers if nothing else! The wireless ones will save you a trip outside.

Hey gentlemen - been out of pocket for a while. My wife had back surgery about two weeks ago and I have been busy at work and at home basically doing everything. Too bad about Arnolds. looking forward to some more spring like weather this week so I can get some more stuff outside. I have officially gone over the edge with my palm trees. I don't even have a green house and I just keep germinating stuff like crazy. Since I put together my seed starting thingy (Christmas lights and 2X4's) I have had great luck getting palms started. Good luck, talk to you later.

I am still around but running out of indoor palm space. I need to get some friends excited about palm trees so I can start spreading the palms out. Started some citrus this winter after seeing your and Wes' trees on this site and its growing very well. Do you get lemons off your tree ? How about you Wes - you getting aby citrus yet.

I have wanted to try the "Meyer's Lemon" as I hear it is one of the easiest to grow indoors, but I have not gotten one yet.
However, my Valencia Orange is now my pride-n-joy tree after someone told me the secret to getting good #'s out of it.
I now have about 10-15 really good oranges started. It also really pumped my chest when I went to the local Greenhouse and went thru their greenhouse and saw what there "oranges" looked like. Looked more like sunflower seeds
Also, I think keeping them in my greenhouse where wind doesn't bother helps a lot.
I do (thanks to Laaz) think I will try to pop some "Key Lime" seeds this week.

I have over thirty lemons on my largest one right now. It has been outside for four years now and it has never looked as good as it does now. I use a simple method of protection and it does fine. I just string one set of Christmas lights through it and put a comforter over the entire tree and it is good to go during the coldest nights. The coldest I got this year was -7C. It saw -9C in Jan 2004 and still made out ok with this form of protection.
Very hardy trees.

I bought a Meyer Lemon at Family Tree Nursery here, it had a few flowers/blooms on it , we'll see if it I get lemons this year. My neighbor brought me back a Key Lime tree from Fort Lauderdale FL (springbreak) last month and it has 2-3 small flowers on it already. With any luck, I may be quitting my day job and selling fruit smoothies at carnivals and state fairs this summer if I get a bumper citrus crop. LOL.
