Leaning Washy filifera
This one had the most fungus damage last winter.
The growth point must've "moved over?"
Will it ever straighten up again?

Welcome back Barb!
Your washy should be okay and likely will straighten out. One of my Sabal louisianas was growing sideways and three fronds later has now straightened to be upright

It's been in the ground for 2 winters.
But nice to know they CAN recover from that kind of damage.

TonyC in Dallas made a post recently on the HP&SB about winter cold damage to washingtonias. 2011 was a rough winter. The damage he posted, looks similar to yours - but I don't think your palm looks as bad as those he posted.

Kris, wow, those Washies looked awful.
But considering it was their coldest winter in 20 years, probably not surprising.
That one comment was interesting: "we learn that hard freezing on palm cells can imitate radiation damage from say- a Nuke power plant meltdown.
And some epigenetics involved here...cold on palms is changing their very form".
Had to look up what epigenetics meant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epigenetics
Thanks for that link Kris.
