Windmill May Be Toast

Post by Mario509 » Fri May 31, 2013 1:45 am

I bought a couple windmills about 10ft each from seattle i planted them and about after a month i put a littlw fertilizer down for each and then we had a really hot heat wave with temps well in the 90s in Early May , i was out of town and unable to water and the fronds are all brown and dried up now. Are these palms Toast or Do they stand a chance of coming back?

really depends on how bad they were hit..what was the fertilizer (20-20-20 MG osmocote?) Have you checked the spear is it dried up as well? will it pull out if you give it a tug?

I don't think palms that size would be killed off by what you described....

BTW

Usually a good idea to wait a while fertilizing any new planting as this can burn damaged roots
and cause at least partial setback in/of establishment.
