Nice. I don't care for 'normal' Peonies, but those shrub versions are too stunning to ignore!

Great pictures, Igor, With regard to the last three pictures. We have the same tree in the back yard. It smells like raspberries, what is it???? I have cut it back three times but it keeps coming back from the ground. Happy Birthday again/ Туған күнің құтты болсын!

Tim, I have more pictures. We have a long weekend so I have a chance working through over the garden, planting, re-planting, moving the stuff around, cleaning up the fish pond, focusing my camera lens, correcting the pics in the Photoshop and posting them at the PalmsNorth. Since the state holiday and my birthday - a lot of food and alcohol.... too. Still alive and optimistic!TimMAz6 wrote:really nice blooms Igor!
So a few days ago bought two mature variegated Aralia elata plants and Acer palmatum dissectum viridis plant. It cost me around 500 USD - a nice birthday present to myself.

Oh, Barb, I know what you mean but April and May are too rainy in my area. A max summer temp in my town is 43,2C. It's not bad, isn't it?

You've got the best of both worlds, then Igor, two months of lush landscape from rain, and then a heatwave to burn your socks off your feet.
Fabulous plants in great condition.
Your love of your property shows.

Thanks, Tim! I would start charging admission once I'll create the Western States looking landscape with all the yucca plants from those seeds I've got from you.TimMAz6 wrote:Hi Igor, GREAT garden! Yes, this is exactly that Calopanax you know as a zone 4 hardy large tree. But as I mentioned last year mine is grafted onto Aralia elata tree stock. So I won't expect having it as a large tree.

Yes, Barb. But I should make your point clearly. My place in at altitude slightly above 1000 m above sea level. And We have pretty high mountains with huge glaciers (a largest one has about 17 km a length). So the summer nights are quite cool and I haven't been giving up my warm blanket. And Ive been never thinking about the A/C installation in my house.lucky1 wrote: You've got the best of both worlds, then Igor, two months of lush landscape from rain, and then a heatwave to burn your socks off your feet.

Hope I commented a summer heat situation above. Yes, we have 35-40 C hot and dry days in July and August. And September and October are the driest months here. But I have unlimited irrigation water from May until late October so I may provide my plants which love humid air with a good water mist any time they need it.TerdalFarm wrote:Lovely! But Gunnera? thanks Jesse! Honestly many years ago (1989) when my Dad god this land, we had been using it as a personal subsidiary plot. Barb knows what the communism era supermarkets have been looked like. So we have been planting potatoes, tomatoes, squash, prickles, many berry shrubs and orchards. And once a regime has been collapsed and I started travelling abroad I started bringing the ornamental plants from the States or from the EU countries back to my town. So let say I started creating my garden in 1994. All these conifers which are 5-7 meters tall now were brought in 4" pots from abroad.canadianplant wrote:Truely and amazing yard Igor!.... You are right Jim. I always try combining different colour and structure layers. That is what I've learned from seeing the western world gardens. So it's not only about a free world democracy but about a Britain landscaping and ornamental gardening....hardyjim wrote:Looks great- I love the layered-multicolored backdrop look and all the flowers........

Yup, sure do, Igor.what the communism era supermarkets have been looked like.
Mostly there was only an echo in those "supermarkets", if they can be called that.
Horrible horrible!
What you and your family have done, Igor, is what we should all do, whether from necessity or desire to put better food on the table.
Feed the family with food from our own gardens.
That's the only way to know what's IN your food.
So...it's called a gunnera, huh?
I thought it was a PISTACHIO...
