Late April Early May Garden Update South Jersey, Yo!
Here are a few pics of just a few curiosities in the garden this week....
My first try at castors, I'm psyched
Young yucca, trachy in the background and some azaleas in bloom
Kept these 2 cat palms and this one larger Princess palm on the cold porch this winter and they made it thorugh
Backyard musas doing better after a rough, chilly, cloudy start
Frontyard musas doing better after a rough, chilly, cloudy start
Hibiscus also in bloom already
Lemon Scented Irises
Monster queen palms and my heavy haavy assed Chines fan palms...
ANd, i am happy to announce we just bought a beach house on the tip of Cape MAy point in South New Jersey, that adds another climate zone and a lot of land to garden! Woo hoo! Sunset pic taken from the beach at the end of our street below....

It has been a slow spring here too! Hope things warm up for you soon. Well, the beach house is right at the location where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. Not much snow , but windy and rainy in winter. Some models say 7b, and some say 7a. I do see alot of Trachies unprotected throughout the year so....I'm psychedcanadianplant wrote:Everything looks good Mike! Spring is just staring here..... Great photos Michael, and those nanas don't show a sign of hurt.
Nice that spring has finally arrived.
Congrats on the new digs...is that going to be a summer home or full time?
Hopefully not in the hurricane zone...
Great that you've got lots of land with it, will be good to see pics of what you do there with that green thumb of yours.
A winter with lots of rain...buy a roll of 6 ml plastic for all the covering you'll have to do.

Hey BArb! Hope allis well your way. It is a second home/retirement investment home. It is right ont he tip of New jersey so could be in the hurricane zone. BUT strangely enough we are not rquired to get flood insurance since our town "villas" is high up off the dunes, weirdlucky1 wrote:Great photos Michael, and those nanas don't show a sign of hurt.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

It is indeed a cool place, off the beaten path fishing town wedged in between two bigger resort towns. More laid back.

Awesome.
You should get some Palmettos for trial at Cape May! Maybe some of those northern forms that Gary sells in New Bern!

I like the laid back, off the beaten path part.
Are there any palms/naners planted there now?
If not...I bet it won't be long.
Can't wait to see photos.
