Clipped trees

Just curious, can someone try to identify what kind of tree this might be?
I've not seen leaf trees clipped this way before

Around here, I mostly see catalpa trees clipped in an umbrella shape and "rose of sharon" sharon clipped into a lollipop tree shape.

It is hard to tell without a closeup of the leaf, I mean so many trees can be manipulated to trunk and branch specific ways...

The Asian water garden feel would be appropriately established, especially if I were to plant a Korean Dogwood, Cornus kousa as my focal point there.

I think I found the answer. I couldn't find the original page where I saw that image first. But I remembered I could do an image search in google, from a link to the picture, which brought me to this page:

Its from the Chelsea flower show. And it turns out these are 30 year old Hornbeams.
