...Will uncover the others palms later on this week, but they look very better, cause they are in the box. Never had bad result with this method, but its for smaller palm. Me and Mike are working to find another way to protect big palms trees. Thats why i try the mummywrap.
Hi Igor, so far the only palms uncovered by Wxman, Beny and me are Trachycarpus fortunei.What are the PALMS!

One thing we really use is a thermostat inside a styrofoam box to prevent overheating especialy in spring. And for the mummywrapping method, better to use a Easyheat tape 18-24 feets long for a 8-12 feets palm is ok. My mistake was giving to much heat for what the tree really need.
Will have better results with the box. But thats the price to pay for experiencing

Yeah, as much as the mummy wrapping looks easier, I think the box method is the safest to go. I'll still be boxing my trachys when they are 30' tall.lucky1 wrote:Aw, Ben, that's sad.
We appreciate what you're sharing about what's not working.
I think any tight wrapping on any palm is trouble because of lack of air circulation, especially when they heat up late winter.
It costs more to heat the air inside a box/wider enclosure but IMO it's worth it.
