The only thing I wish he had included is soil pH, or simply "prefers acidic" for 5.5 lovers, or "prefers semi-alkaline" for 7.0 etc.
It does make a big difference for some palms, while others aren't fussy.
Generally though, the palms that grow close/in water/rivers obviously like more of a leaf-mold, high compost soil = acidic.
