I have found a new one that carrys alot of not so normal things but its at least a hour and a half drive..well worth the trip though. Got the var. lady palm there last time and a tree fern as well and this was the dead of Dec. I can't wait to go back in spring or summer and see what they have. They also baby sit house plants for the rich and some of those blew my mind. some mature triangle palms all types. hope to bring home somthing of the exotic next trip.

We have three lowes and two HDs in winston salem. On Sat. I like to hit all plus a frw nurseries in between. Distance means nothing to me. I missed Plant Delights open house because of my honeymoon. But I will be at the next one. I am having dreams about that hole in the wall nursery in myrtle beach. Next warm weekend I am on my way!!!!!!!!!

If I make it down there before all the plants go home I def will. I met someone off the internet and he took me there. I was so blown away and in awe I forgot to take pics. I would assume since most of the plants were so large people have had them for awhile, some I have never seen for sale anywhere. I ate a fresh grape fruit off the tree in the middle of dec! It really was amazeing and some of the stuff people have would wouldn't believe anyone would try to keep it at a house plant or patio plant. One guy was there checking on his stuff offered to sell me his 6 ft sago for 500, said it was to much to mess with anymore. the palms are what was the best there were mature queen palms, mature triangle palms , someone had a black palm with 4 inch needles, 6 ft licuala Grandis...all as patio plants. AHH now I want to go back down there LOL soon as the weather breaks Im there with the camera.

If you go to the PD open house chad see if the plants they sell there are larger than the mail order..the mail order just sint worth it to me at those prices.

I have been to PDN about 6 times. I always find items there much larger than mail order. But some of the more popular items dont last long enough to get bigger. Their palms however are always small. My waggie has 3" of trunk after 3 yrs. Bought my A. Gentry 'Jaws' was at 12" tall. My mekong giant banana was 3' tall.

We had lots of snow this winter, Igor.
Snow was gone the last couple of weeks.
Then yesterday it snowed and snizzled all day (snow/drizzle), ground is white again, but should melt today.
Rare to see 100% humidity here.

Glad you're warming up now too.
:D
