Palms in Sochi

Post by lucky1 » Thu Feb 07, 2013 8:02 am

Last night's progress report on Sochi's 2014 Olympics was interesting.

I love this photo:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sochi ... apers.jpeg

Look at their temps: "mild winters (average 11 °C (52 °F) during the day and 4 °C (39 °F) at night in the period from December to March) and warm summers (average 24 °C (75 °F) during the day and 16 °C (61 °F) at night in the period from May to October)."

Wow, but this is why: 43.6127° N, 39.7228° E

Interesting pics of a big rainfall event too.

Gorgeous palms...I am so impressed with the Phoenix ...

Beautiful city.
Thanks Igor.

Someone from Sochi posted some pictures including a mature Jubaea on the IPS forums that they took in Sochi.

Yeah, at $50 billion, wow!
But they've got bigger problems than snow.

Like the Vancouver Olympics: our government is still loathe to admit the final cost was $7 billion.

Had never heard of Sochi until a few years ago, so I hope their tourism "potential" works out for them.

Thinking only of the palms, I hope they get lots of snow, but little cold. :D
