So I set out a few potted plants. Cloud cover so they won't get direct sun (which might stress them).

Beautiful leaves.Sabal minor "Ft Worth".
I'm now a Sabal fan...just planted some S.minor "McCurtain".

They'll get a real test in Canada.

Hope your back is improving, Erik.
Glad you're not overdoing the lifting anyway.
Andy, one summer day years ago it was 42C in my back yard.good going for me in the summertime
Erik's had 2 summers like that, right?

Andy dont feel too bad. My temps can swing 50 degrees during the year and my record low and high spans 100 degrees ( -40C in the 1940s, and +41C in the 1980s)

Over an inch of rain fell today!
We've had warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico lately. This is the same sort of late-January event that fed into the record blizzard two years ago. The current "cold" front was not nearly so cold so we got a spring-like rain event instead.
Not sure if it set a record, but a big rain like this is VERY unusual here.
I hauled as many plants outside as I could so they could get real rain soaking. They'll have to come in tonight, but I hope the natural water is good for them, and that they'll be out for good in a couple of months.

Bet those plants loved it...
That "spring" rain would've been so good to see, and to hear.
There are areas in the midwest that have beaten maximum temps by 20 to 25 degrees.
