Richea pandanifolia.......anyone growing?
I'm curious if anyone is growing or tried Richea pandanifolia. A very cool looking plant which is native to the interior of Tasmania and tolerates lots of snow. It reminds me of a Yucca rostrata.

Here's a video of kids snowboarding with the Richea in the background........look at 0:42 and 1:01.......nice.

that's a lot of snow for a 'zone 8' plant.

Based on where they are from you might have some luck, especially if you treat it like jim does his palms.

Good luck! I have heard that Richea species can be quite tough to germinate/grow.

First I've heard of it, looks like it could grow in your climate.
Let us know if you find a good source.

seems like the seed needs to be cold/moist stratified and germinated in sunlight..........seeds must be on top of soil. Seed must not dry out either. They sound difficult..............seed is coming from RPS............I'll be lucky to get 1 to germ.

With your skill, you'll do better than 1 germinating, Tim.
