Windmill palm question

So I'm new to this, bought these trees last year, they made it through the first winter, one with a lot of frond burn, the other had spear pull but they made it through. This past week we've had 4 days in a row of 10-15 degree temps. (I live in Boise, ID) All I'm doing this year is that I moved one of them real close to the house to get the heat from the walls, the one in the ground i put some house insulation around the trunk and covered it with plastic sheeting. So far there is almost no frond burn, even with the really low temps. Any advise about other stuff I could do with these temps? They are supposed to break this weekend. Thanks

Welcome! Nice to have someone here from Idaho.

Take a blanket and cover the plant on these colder nights. :D This will do wonders for your plant.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

welcome.............it sounds like you got some decent protection.............hopefully your cold will end soon. Trachys don't like temps below 10F for too long. Try to keep them above 20F if possible. If you have lots of snow you can bury them under snow during the super cold blasts.

I always wrap with heat tape leaving thermostat in open. then wrap with insulation and waterproof protection. heat tape only turns on if it gets cold. I use this in zone 5b in canada

Welcome to PN! :D
Nice palms!
Is the one at left a Trachy too? almost looks different.

Can't add any more to the good advice you've already received.

But one thing I've discovered (the hard way)...Trachies are one of the few palms that hate "desert summers" with hot dry winds.
Leaves get shredded and they need a heck of a lot of water in full sun.

In my very hot, dry windy area, Trachy loved the move to the East side of house where it only gets morning sun.

Congrats on the recovery from spear pull...

The one on the left is a Med. fan palm, I bring it inside for the winter.
