Hi guys..you can visit my website to see my result i had about overwintering palms near Montreal, zone 5a. Its only in french, sorry, but you can see lots of pics. As a landscaper, i try to enter the market with the exolandscaping. I try to build different method that permit my customer to have cold hardy palms in their landscape. I focus to the possibility to protect big Trachycarpus as tall then 20 feets.

Nice website Beny. That Butia is a great specimen too! :)

Have you tried Tetrapanex? It may be a great plant to try too with it's exotic leaves. Even as a die back perennial, it looks great come July.

Hi Beny,

Tetrapanex is hardier than Casterbean. Tetrapanex is probably a USDA zone 8a plant (except for the leaves). I cover the lower trunk and root area with leaves and it resprouted and grow into a 6 foot (2m) tall plant. I'm attempting to protect the 6 foot tall trunk this winter to see how large it will grow.
