This male Trachy wasn`t waiting around for a date with a female to produce seeds

It looks to have about 40 seeds on it. I was going to cut the flower stalks off like I did last year. I`m glad I didn`t

John, that is sooooooo exciting!
It'll be interesting to see if that trait continues every year or whether it's a one-shot deal.
Wiki link didn't explain enough of that for this layperson to understand.

Gives me hope that my big ole' Trachy will do the same one day (or maybe it's too late?)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Barb it will be interesting to see how many of the Trachy seeds germinate this winter. Would you like a few?

I'd love to try 1 or 2 seeds, thank you.
Even though my "self" is asking whether I'm crazy as I can't look after the plants I've got.

I'm so curious about hermaphrodyte-ism.

Are you waiting until mid-Oct/early Nov to pick the seeds?

I have to go to Kelowna before mid-Nov; will bring your Pomegranate seedling.

Barb that would be so cool to get one of your pomegranate seedlings. We look forward to your visit. I`ll wait on the Trachy seeds till they turn black on the outside skin. These seeds should have some cold hardy provenance as this Trachy has seen close to -18c 0f for 3 out of 6 years since planted. This Trachy has by far out performed all of the six others that I have planted. If anybody else on PN would like about 3 seeds pm me. I would like to see how these palms do with other Palms North people growing them
