Happy plants overwintering in my library

Post by igor.glukhovtsev » Mon Jan 09, 2012 6:44 am

Tonight had a chance taking a few shots of my plants keeping in a cool and good light library. I'm afraid there won't be a space for multiplying plants collection next winter in there.

Igor,
What a great collection you have!!!!

Superb yucca to the left of the Brahea in the first photo. :compress:

You have space for another table or two.

Thanks Barb! Only one table could be fitted in there
By the way this yucca on left of Brachea is my newly picked up Dasylirion! Sorry for that!

That's the $150 Dasylirion ????
Worth every penny!
Was it mailorder? or do you have a specialist nursery nearby?

I'd be able to fit MORE tables in there

Yes it is 150 bucks baby. We have only one garden center for 1.5 million population city selling this kind of stuff importing from the Netherlands. By the way I have 7% discount there. But it doesn't make me happy. Even those sale managers tell me I have to gain 15% 'cos too much money I'm spending there.... Stupid plant'o'holic!

Ooooh, sounds like they have wonderful specimens.

Next time you're there (spending money  ), would they let you take some photos?

I'd love to see a proper nursery :D instead of the empty shelves like they have in my town.

Thanks Barb, at least they have 4 different size Chaemerops starting from 35 bucks, Trachys and Waggies, Robustas and many-many indoor tender palms. There are another dozen Dasylirion left, I picked up the fattest one (priority sell  - the ladies-managers like me)

starting from 35 bucks
That's where prices should start.

To reply to your other post, Igor, the Chamaerops volcano is a wonderful palm.
Time will tell how this palm works out but it's sure a beauty.

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

Igor very healthy looking plants. I would be happy if I could go to a nursery here and be able to buy what you can there.

Igor, very nice plants and super nice library! I didn't notice any books, that must be where you read your kindle. Just kidding! Nice pics - Paul

very nice Igor. It looks like you've made good use of the lighting and space. It appears you have the same problem I have, overcrowding (thats a good thing). It just means you like lots of plants and thats OK. Keep up the good work. and happy winter.

New Banana location

Post by sashaeffer » Sat Jan 28, 2012 7:09 pm

I've bought so many palms of late, I've had to keep moving the Eneste Banana I brought into the house for the winter. This will have to be it's LAST move to the master bath, since all other other places in the house now have PALMS there.

Spring can't come soon enough.

Barb,

Lucky for that Banana it never gets used!

I think palm/tropical plant bug has finally bitten the wife. She suggested even moving a sofa from the front room into one of the unused bedrooms so we could make MORE ROOM for plants in that front room(west facing window) After measuring everything, we found out it won't fit well, and would look really odd in the room we'd move it to so it's staying put for now. Still..........I appreciate the thought.

Maybe time for a shout out thread to our spouses? I'll start it off.

Right! Each ofl those trachies started pushing the second leaf!
Thanks Erik, my Mom will be sowing 60 plus names of Yuccas and Agaves... Might need more space for those seedlings if they would germinate. Oh, poor me!
