Wheel,
I'm selling my place and so far the cold-hardy palms seem to be desirable to prospective buyers.

Thanks! I plan on being here a while. It's beautiful in the summer, and with the turf farm in my back yard it's great for snowmobiling in the winter!

The turf farm allows snowmobiling during winter?

Hey Erik,
Glad the palms appeal to prospective buyers...they can brag they bought acreage with palm trees!
Go for it...and after they sign on the dotted line, tell 'em what they need to do to protect them :|
They'll think you're originally from Canada

Barb
I know the owner and actually as long it's frozen over well, the grass doesn't get hurt... and I run a track that's studded and from time to time it paddles down to bare ground. Some thatch gets tossed up, but once it thaws you can't even tell.

The last prospect (no offer) is relocating from northern Missouri to Tulsa. She was so happy to see you can have palms down here!

She may be back at your place for a second and third look, Erik!
Wouldn't it be fabulous if your palms were the deciding factor in the purchase!!!! :D

Really grown this year-looks like a nice cluster of roots coming out of the lower portion of the trunk too.

Thnx guys, I think I will protect it with large (80 cm diameter) heating pipe isolation panels and tighten them with makrolflex or similar. In the enclosure I will add some 60 w lamp for the rough times. I think it should work, last years palmhouse has already been destroyed by neighbours cat (bubblewrap plastic) and I removed the styrofoam panels earlier than the cats reached to it:P I'm happy with this years nanas, supriser was a musa dwarf cavendish and ensete glaucum which need higher temps than usual coldhardier musas.

Trachy weather!
It is amazing how much better windmill palms in Canada look vs. those in, say, Texas.

Barb you Trachy looks like it has grown some more since I was up there in Aug. Those fronds are going to be hitting the side of the house soon. One happy palm!

Yes I believe it has too, John.

We should've felt-penned a growth chart on the vinyl siding when you were here a year ago...NOT

Carpenter is still off hunting (ugh!), so it'll be a while until the palm hut goes up.
Are you getting your winter protection frames in place soon?
