Bamboo Palm setting some seeds

Post by lucky1 » Sat Aug 06, 2011 3:43 pm

This Chamaedorea seifrizii (Bamboo palm) blooms at least two or three times a summer.
Since I only have one big clumping plant, male and female probably occurs on the same plant.

Unlikely any pollen is blowing in from the neighbour's place

With only ~10 seeds, hopefully there'll be a larger harvest in a year or two to offer PN members.

This palm is bulletproof for me but can't handle our intense desert sun.
The papery wrapping on stems and the stem divisions do resemble bamboo.

Nice!
Only one of my C. radicalis is blooming this year so no hope for seeds. Still, flowers on palms make me happy.
