Is your "heat index", your version of our "humidex"- when the humidity is taken into account right?

Basically-higher dewpoint higher humidity-if close to temp.
Trust me,you don't want to experience 99F and 81F dewpoint!

I get it really close to that Jim. Im right beside a giant lake remember? LOL My dew point this morning was almost 24C, which is around 70F. ITs going to be 27C and feel like 40C today..... Plus we got a little bit of rain, which makes it more humid. I love humidity lol it felt liek 115F yesterday!

24c = 75.2f
I think 27c was our low last night.
The only difference between 70f dewpoint and 80f is
the fish can come out of the water!

Yes Eric, they love it! Even the Moth orchid I have outside is growing well. I managed to revive an olive tree that was a stick since may too. On the solstice, the sun is up around 530 EST, and sets around 10 45PM. ITs about 15 minutes shorter now ( just noticeable). The tropicals just love it.
Jim - Too good of a point about the fish lol,

Ugh! I'm just back from Mexico where the temps were ~25C during the day and 17C at night. This humidity is terrible!
We might break the record tomorrow with a high of 37C (99f) here in the city. I hope that the forecast is wrong!
Edit: My sticker says 35C (95f) right now, YUCK!

We had 2 days at 34C last week. Felt around 48-50C with the humidity, depending where you were. One day at 35, felt around the same. Nice and toasty.
Paul, you guys are feeling the heat, but you are way drier then we are ( i mean my city, the rest of the area is on fire...) But I did see trenton got 40mm of rain.... I hope you got the good end of that rain!

The heat is dying down. 28C today, but 4 days at 20C. Itll give a nice break, as much as I enjoy the heat.
We had a massive, fast moving storm here last night. 2 inches of rain in 5 minutes, 100kmph winds, fallen trees, localized flooding... all within 15 minutes. Better then TV!
Heres a quick video (not made by me_

Erik- The all-time record high for the city (disputed) is 38.3C. We're above 37C right now, I don't know if we'll make it! Note: I wish I was along the lake right now, my sticker says 33C which would be sweet relief from this!
The dispute here is that the old UofT weather station (downtown) recorded a temperature of 40.6C back in 1936, one year before the current weather station was established!

I hear ya there cameron!!!! We had 3 days of it, the hottest 2 maxed out at 48C with humidex..... nice and toasty!!!!!
Paul - Id love to be down there. I really love that kind of heat! Hope the plants are ok
We had a microburst last night. 80 feet of the roof was torn off liek a tuna can, destroying liek 20 cars in the process, localized flooding, 2 inches of rain in liek 5 minutes, cloud rotation ( the whole cell was visibly rotating in the sky...)...
The first vid is the airport, the second one is the storm. Thats what happens here when it gets this hot, then cools down even 5 or so degrees!

We topped out at 37.9C yesterday, for those still on the old British system that's 100.2f, with a low of 26C or 80f. These numbers are, of course, I the official weather data from the airport! Interestingly, the island airport (in the lake) also hit 36.5C, looks like being on the waterfront was not a big help yesterday!
So we missed the all-time record by 0.4C, so close! Can't wait for temps to drop back into the 30C range! Still 2 days at 35C (95f) before that happens though. This is pretty warm for us guys north of the border, all of our igloos are melting!

Mine are adjusting to the dry weather, then massive sudden torrent of rain, then heat. The rain kills off some of the roots after the soil dries a bit (its natural), the plants wilt a bit after the rain, and perk back up when the roots explode into new growth. We had so much rain at once, it mustve shocked the roots some. A few things look a bit wilty still, even my basjoo!
