Snapshots on a hot afternoon

Post by TerdalFarm » Sat Jul 09, 2011 2:48 pm

Here are some tablet snapshots. I had on my sunglasses so composition is lousy, but you get a sense of the garden party on this hot (106 F, 41 C) afternoon.
We invited in the horses, and they walked politely past the Canna and Sabal (Mandevilla in foreground). W hung laundry while they ate the grass (= they did my weeding, IMO). Then they politely left, without jumping in the pool (thank goodness!).

Botanist horses!
Glad they didn't learn from the goats to munch on your prize plants.

106 F !!!!! :? Holy cow that's hot.

Maybe we should all move to Madrid where we can grow Trachies outdoors unprotected

Horses are dedicated grazers, not browsers like goats.
The nibbled on the Miscanthus, but I don't mind. They LOVE bermuda grass, which to me is a weed.
Yes, it is hot. For June, we came in 2nd to 1911 for hottest June, but we may beat 1911 for hottest July. The "dust bowl" of the 1930s has been left in the dust.
Right now, it is 106.5 and climbing so we may break the 1925 record (107) for hottest July 9.
Glad to have AC. It is just 83 F in here with all AC on max! :D
