Finished my beds... (well almost)

Did some more planting this weekend as it was sunny and in the 50s. A welcome change from last week's snow disaster.

Overall shot of the yard. Notice all the bananas are in the ground now.

Closeup of one of the corners. Each corner (total of 2) have 66 violas, 6 hens and chicks and 1 ensete maurelii.

Closeup of the bed snowing the magnolia grandiflora 'Edith Bogue' and yuccas.

The perennial bed. Variegated grass has started poking up, planted some Lupine, hostas aren't up yet and neither are some other perennials. Hope they all made it.

My musa basjoo. Have some other tropical stuff on the way to add. Will surprise you with it later. Let's get growing!

Another banana bed. Orinoco and ensete maurelii in here. Have some EE's on their way to fill the gaps.

And of course, my favorite -- AND FIRST -- trachy.

Like I said, more is getting added later this week!

I think you should give in now, and dig up the rest of the grass..... Your already half way there.. LOL

Erik -

Hoping they last all summer. That's part of the reason I mulched them with a lighter color mulch. Will water heavily to keep them cool. Violas are supposedly more heat tolerant than pansies.

Oh my god, there is no way I can expand any further. I spent 10 hours planting on Saturday and my knees and back hurt.

The wife already said I have too many beds before I expanded this year. Shovel still met dirt, haha.

looks nice. I love the maggnolias. They are the first things to really blossom here in march and they are amazing!! Can't wait to see your bananas in full splendor too. Ours are really starting to get going here with temps in 80s and nights in 60's now. Finally!

You have Alocasia "Frydek" and Oxalis regnelii triangularis? When did you plant yours and how are they looking now?

Also, where did you buy them from?

Also, where did you buy them from?

That's funny cuz I assumed you saw those recommendations when you had
asked on the Subtropical board about what kind of stuff to plant.

They were also on my list on the thread Some new,some old and some new growth.

I bought from Floridahillnursery on E-bay

One batch was planted almost 2 weeks ago and another last week.

Between the hail,wind and cold I only lost one Frydek nut I think the
stem was broke when I planted it.

Not sure how many of my Colocasia(ETC)will recover from the hail damage,
will have to wait until some warm weather to be sure but they(whats left of them)
......are still there.

Beautiful yard Tim...love your landscape! Your first Trachy looks amazing and the bananas are so nice and green...LOVE IT!

Jim - Now I remember. How is your oxalis doing? Mine looked pretty wilty after I planted it. Hope it rebounds.
