thanks for sharing.
Where in Texas are you? How cold has it been?
Anyway, the Sabal looks great. The Cycas, well, as well as can be expected. But as big as it is I'm sure it will bounce back, especially as we have nice weather coming in a couple of days.

They look pretty ragged. It was very windy and cold. I guess they'll survive though. I'm going to try and take some pics in my area soon.

I covered everything, even needle palms, on Jan. 30 and am glad I did. --Erik (up near Tulsa)

I didn't notice that anyone covered there palms. There are some that must be over two stories high so it would be hard to do. Other people must not be concerned about them.

I really thought we would have a break in the weather after last year.

The trachies look good, but what is amazing to me is how much better the sabal looks than the robusta. All that damage at 15F degrees wow. I bet everthing comes back just add warm weather.

Gorgeous blue on those!

I was thinking the same thing as Aaron about Washy vs. Sabal.
Didn't think there would be that noticeable a difference in cold hardiness.
Maybe other factors are at play here too, idling engines/car exhaust affecting one species more than another, as well as the bitter cold.

Your palms and sago look the best, Dean!
Are those Trachy seeds hanging over the Sago in 5th pic of your post?
They look ripe.

Anytime you're going for another drive, Dean, please take your camera with you.

When you're on that Aruba palm pics page, highlight the URL at the very top of your screen (not Palms North's URL button).
Ctrl C to copy.

Then Ctrl V to paste it here, with Palms North "URL button" ahead of that text, then click the Palms North URL button again at the end of the text.

That will give a "clickable" link that anyone can open.

HI CT, congrats on getting that link perfect.

The tall skinny trunked palms are Coconut palms, Cocos nucifera , "the paradigm of the tropics and tropical beauty", according to Riffle & Craft.
I think the shorter one in foreground is a Sabal palmetto.

Is that a pic from a recent trip?
If so, we need MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE pics.

I was in Aruba a couple of weeks ago

I didn't think they were coconut palms because the didn't have any coconuts on them and they had little baby seedlings near them.

Many coconut palms are "de-fruited" by hotels etc so their guests don't get clunked on the head passing beneath them.

Or sprouted fruit/pits/stones from tourists dropping seeds from lunch?

Too bad tourists don't drop Cervesa seeds...

What a fabulous resort, Paul...

That palm-lined promenade to the pool is beautifully laid out and landscaped.

By the way, the tall palms on each side of that promenade with the silver-grey clear trunks up to the crownshaft, those are not COCOS palms.
Cocos (coconut palms) are the ones you see at the beach, and near the Happy Island boat (in pic).

Welcome aboard Paul, I'm right outside of Providence.

I liked your pictures from Aruba, the last time I was there the natural bridge was still there, so it's been awhile now, wonderful island and super nice people there.

Even though we'll never look like Aruba here in the NE, we do our best

He's a few shots from last year.

The landscape looks a little different right now with all this white stuff everywhere
