I am always impressed with the shear number of palms that you have!

I forget, how do you protect your in ground palms?

John, even more beautiful than I remember "in person"...

hey, is that a Licuala you've acquired? (if not, what is the wide-leafed palm in a pot, leaves about 1 or 2 feet long?)
And is that a Fishtail on the porch?

Glad my musa is now in your capable hands.

Thanks for the updated pics.

Must not get to cool in the garage if you have Banana plants "growing" :D

I guess you lift off the top of the enclosures when it's to warm and sunny
as in your picture?

Jim the garage stays around 12c 52f through the winter. The palm protection does come off the palms on mild winter days. I hope we all have lots of those this winter?

Here's to all the global warming pushers, may your winters be -30 below and four feet of snow in your driveway. Because I want you happy.

I have planted my last sabale minor palm this summer, and is the last palm I have in my yard. Hope it makes it through the winter. :) I have given up on palms in my Idaho garden. There is just too many worry free palm yuccas out there. Torry and faxon yuccas are a sight to behold even when seen next to palms.

Of cource nothings better than a palm, but I am sad to say that all of my palms have died in Arizona. I tought they would because I was not there to water them, but why not try when I'm down there. Next year I will plant some more palms and cactus.
PS I am glad to say that it looks like my cactus are doing just fine without me. :D

Very Nice pictures John, all of your plants are super healthy too. I love the palm circle in the driveway :D

That Brahea armata in picture 23 is beautiful! Did you ever think of trying one in the ground there?

Thanks for the pictures.

Bill and Aaron I have two 15 gal.Brahea armata. They were purchased from Sunnyside nursery near Vancouver B.C. three years ago. I don`t know if I would risk planting one until I plant W. filifera`s and see if they survive. Aaron to bad about your palms in Arz.Are you going to give that Sabal minor any protection this winter?

I think I will give it a plastic tent but no heat. This one seems to take well to the cold. :D

Bill I`m a bit conservative when I plant a palm in a zone 6b.The palm has to be at least 15 gal.The exceptions are my needle palms 5 gal. and my S. minor,S.louisiana.One of the two Brahea armata might go into my new palm garden. I will have to cut down the oak in the roundabout in my driveway and shredd the roots to make a palm entrance to my house.Messy tree! There is a dual electrical plug there so I should have enough power to heat through Dec. Jan. part Feb. My cold hardy potted palms are still outside. How are yours. Nov 13th?

John,

Thanks for the updated photos! Always look forward to seeing the collection. Glad to hear you're starting to start a trend-proliferating the valley with cool plants! Such a great place in Canada for the hardy palms and yuccas. :D
